EMDR

I am a trained EMDR therapist and a member of EMDRUK, so you know when you work with me that I deliver best practice. I have been trained to work with all ages, from 2 years old until 92 or more.

What is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based therapy for healing from traumatic experiences.

EMDR is recognised by both the World Health Organisation (WHO) and in the UK by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE).

Trauma is very individual; as the mental health charity, MIND, puts it:

What's traumatic is personal. Other people can't know how you feel about your own experiences or if they're traumatic for you.

You may be experiencing PTSD from a one-off life threatening event or had many events that you experienced as trauma throughout your lifetime.

So How Does This Work?

When you first come to see me, we will spend some time exploring what happened to you and finding ways to work that are right for you.

As an experienced online therapist, I can offer ways to work online using EMDR and we can explore what way works best for you.

I will work with you to see what is currently impacting you from anxiety, chronic pain, depression, panic attacks, poor sleep and nightmares…there are many ways that trauma can impact our lives and we will work together to see what helps you feel more grounded and able to manage these difficulties.

During this early period, we will look at how EMDR may work best for you. You may prefer eye movements and I can offer a session online using cloudEMDR which you can see more about here: CloudEMDR , this also provides sound Bilateral Stimulation if that works best for you. We can work with tapping, many like to use the Butterfly Hug to process with and here’s a link so you can see how this may work: Butterfly hug . You can draw, tell a story…..there are so many ways and we can work together to find the best way of working that suits you.
